Orange Health Labs secures $12M from Amazon
Orange Health Labs, a diagnostic lab service startup, has secured $12 million in a funding round led by Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund. The round also saw participation from existing investors, including Accel, General Catalyst, Bertelsmann India Investments, and Y Combinator. With this latest infusion, the company’s total funding has reached $47 million to date.
Founded in December 2020 by former Practo executives Dhruv Gupta and Tarun Bhambra, Orange Health Labs aims to use the fresh capital to accelerate product expansion, strengthen its team, and drive innovation in diagnostics. The startup currently provides diagnostic lab services in major cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, ensuring sample collection within 60 minutes and delivering most test results within six hours. Gupta and Bhambra, the founders of Orange Health Labs, stated, “We believe India’s diagnostic market has the potential to grow to $40 billion by 2034, driven by increasing healthcare awareness and advancements in technology.
Funding drives growth at Orange Health
At Orange Health, we see a pivotal shift where speed, accessibility, and quality are reshaping consumer expectations. Our mission is to bridge the gap between these expectations and service delivery.”
The company is focusing on expanding its reach by building its retail presence, with plans to grow from eight collection centres to 30 by the end of the year.
Additionally, Orange Health Labs aims to broaden its test menu, triple its phlebotomist workforce within the next year, and establish a new test facility to meet the growing demand in Bengaluru. Gupta added, “Recently, we enabled consumers to get ECG tests from the comfort of their homes or collection centres and remain committed to driving greater availability and convenience for our customers.”
Orange Health Labs has achieved significant milestones, crossing Rs 100 crore in annual revenue run rate and achieving profitability in Bengaluru, the city where it began operations. The startup claims to have conducted over a million tests to date and has partnered with over 1,000 clinics.
The Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, launched in 2021 with $250 million to support Indian startups, has also invested in companies like The Good Glamm Group, Cashify, Axio, and Smallcase. This investment marks a significant milestone for Orange Health Labs as it looks to solidify its position in the rapidly growing diagnostics and healthcare market in India.
