Amazon Expands Healthcare Offerings in India, Adds Lab Test Bookings

Amazon India has expanded its presence in the healthcare space by partnering with Bengaluru-based Orange Health Labs to launch an at-home diagnostic service. This move builds on its existing offerings like medicine delivery and teleconsultation, positioning Amazon as a more comprehensive medical services platform. The new service allows users to book lab tests directly through the Amazon app, with sample collection from home within 60 minutes and test results delivered in under six hours for routine diagnostics.

Initially, the service is available in six major cities—Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad—covering over 450 PIN codes.

Amazon India’s entry into at-home diagnostics builds on its existing involvement with Orange Health Labs, which received a lead investment from the Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund during its $12 million funding round in December 2024. Orange Health, founded in 2020, has secured backing from major investors like Accel, General Catalyst, and Y Combinator, raising over $50 million so far.

This diagnostic service is now part of the broader Amazon Medical offering, which already includes online doctor consultations and medicine delivery via third-party sellers. With same-day medicine delivery active in 23 cities, the addition of lab testing further strengthens Amazon’s aim to become a comprehensive digital healthcare provider.

By entering India’s $15 billion diagnostics market—growing at 15% annually—Amazon is positioning itself against major players like Thyrocare, Tata 1mg, and Dr Lal Path Labs. The move reflects Amazon’s deeper commitment to India’s fast-digitising healthcare space, where speed, convenience, and fully integrated platforms are becoming the new competitive standard.

As per the official statement by Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Leader, Amazon Medical says, “Amazon Diagnostics represents a significant step forward in making healthcare more accessible, reliable and convenient for all our customers.”

He further added, “By providing high-quality, doctor-verified lab testing seamlessly integrated into the Amazon app, we are empowering our customers with world class diagnostic facilities from the comfort of their home.
